Ap­pren­tices are short­listed for awards

Two ap­pren­tices from Peter­bor­ough have been short­listed for a pres­ti­gious re­gional award.

Both are fi­nal year ap­pren­tices at Peter­bor­ough’s Perkins En­gines and are in the run­ning for EEF Ap­pren­tice Awards at this year’s EEF Fu­ture Man­u­fac­tur­ing Awards.

Theshort­listed ap­pren­tices are So­phie Gra­ham (20) of Stan­ground, and Joseph Wil­son (21) also of Stan­ground.

They were se­lected along with 16 other ap­pren­tices from across the Mid­lands after im­press­ing judges with their hard work, ded­i­ca­tion and de­ter­mi­na­tion to pur­sue a ca­reer in man­u­fac­tur­ing.

The ap­pren­tices will find out who­has­been­crowne­dre­gional win­neronNovem­ber7.

If suc­cess­ful, they will go on to com­pete for a na­tional ti­tle.

So­phie said: “It’s an hon­our to have been short­listed for this award. I know how hard-work­ing and ded­i­cated each and every ap­pren­tice is so I am de­lighted to have been recog­nised in this way.”

Joseph said: “My ap­pren­tice­ship has opened up doors and I can see a clear path to working­i­na­sec­torthatIen­joy and where I feel my achieve­ments are val­ued.”
