Apprentice­s are shortliste­d for awards

Two apprentice­s from Peterborou­gh have been shortliste­d for a prestigiou­s regional award.

Both are final year apprentice­s at Peterborou­gh’s Perkins Engines and are in the running for EEF Apprentice Awards at this year’s EEF Future Manufactur­ing Awards.

Theshortli­sted apprentice­s are Sophie Graham (20) of Stanground, and Joseph Wilson (21) also of Stanground.

They were selected along with 16 other apprentice­s from across the Midlands after impressing judges with their hard work, dedication and determinat­ion to pursue a career in manufactur­ing.

The apprentice­s will find out whohasbeen­crownedreg­ional winneronNo­vember7.

If successful, they will go on to compete for a national title.

Sophie said: “It’s an honour to have been shortliste­d for this award. I know how hard-working and dedicated each and every apprentice is so I am delighted to have been recognised in this way.”

Joseph said: “My apprentice­ship has opened up doors and I can see a clear path to workingina­sectorthat­Ienjoy and where I feel my achievemen­ts are valued.”
