CRICKET: Orton Park’s Graham Vere took 8-29 in a friendly win over Ashton Wold. POSH: Tommy Robson and Bobby Doyle were the scorers as Noel Cantwell’s side beat Reading 2-1 at London Road in Division Three. CYCLING: Fenland Clarion’s Bill Glover won the Luton Wheelers 12- hour event, covering a distance of 220 miles. WATERSKI-RACING: Alwalton’s Guy Gooding won the British title. SPEEDWAY: Brian Clark was the star of the show for Panthers, scoring 12 points in a 47-30 win over Rye House. FOOTBALL: Posh Youths beat Southend6-3 with goals by Pino Nardino (3), Martin Bond, Rodney Leadbeater and Tony Cliss but the win was marred by Nigel Barnes suffering a broken leg. FOOTBALL: Yaxley went second in the Peterborou­gh League Premier Division after beating reigning champions Huntingdon 2-0 with goals by Tony Burgess and Nick Musson. FOOTBALL: Andy Ross hit five goals on his debut for British Rail in an 8-1 Sunday League win at Warmington. RUGBY: Richard Maryniak and Mick Mason scored Baker Perkins’ tries in an8-4win over Ely.
