CY­CLING: Fen­land Clar­ion’s Bill Glover won the Lu­ton Wheel­ers 12- hour event, cov­er­ing a dis­tance of 220 miles. WA­TER­SKI-RAC­ING: Al­wal­ton’s Guy Good­ing won the Bri­tish ti­tle. SPEED­WAY: Brian Clark was the star of the show for Pan­thers, scor­ing 12 points in a 47-30 win over Rye House. FOOT­BALL: Posh Youths beat Southend6-3 with goals by Pino Nardino (3), Martin Bond, Rod­ney Lead­beater and Tony Cliss but the win was marred by Nigel Barnes suf­fer­ing a bro­ken leg. FOOT­BALL: Yax­ley went sec­ond in the Peter­bor­ough League Premier Di­vi­sion after beat­ing reign­ing cham­pi­ons Hunt­ing­don 2-0 with goals by Tony Burgess and Nick Mus­son. FOOT­BALL: Andy Ross hit five goals on his de­but for Bri­tish Rail in an 8-1 Sun­day League win at Warm­ing­ton. RUGBY: Richard Mary­niak and Mick Ma­son scored Baker Perkins’ tries in an8-4win over Ely.
