Ryan was flyin, but others failed to impress

-

Posh boss Grant McCann learnt nothing new from watching his under 23 side crash to a Central League defeat this week.

Dave Farrell’s men went down 3-0 to AFC Wimbledon at the Mick George Training Academy on Tuesday afternoon.

Three second-half goals did for a team that included eight players with competitive first- team experience with Posh.

McCann was pleased with the contributions of central defender Ryan Tafazolli and teenage striker Deon Moore, but found little encouragement from other performances even though right-back Hayden White came through 90 minutes after missing recent first-team matches because of injury.

“It was a poor game,” McCann admitted. “And it just confirmed to me what I already knew about some players.

“We got more minutes into Ryan Tafazolli which was important and he looks like he’s coming back to his best form and fitness.

“De on Moore gave us a good 45 minutes as well.”

Moore was taken off at halftime which might bean indicator he could start against Walsall at the ABAX Stadium this Saturday, but McCanninsisted he wanted to give ample game time to an unnamed triallist forward.

The likes of midfielder Adil Na bi and striker Shaqui le Coul thirst appear to have little future under McCann at Posh.

Posh: Henry, Freestone ( sub Nicholson 46 mins), Almeida Santos, Tafazolli, White, Nabi, Coulthirst, Chettle, Oduwa, Moore (sub Stevens 46 mins), Trialist.
