Speedway - fans’ forum next week

Panthers chief Ged Rathbone has vowed to given an honest answer to any question thrown at him during a fans’ forum next week. The promoter, who recently announced he will remain at thehelmfor­2017afterc­onsidering his future in the sport, will facesuppor­tersattheP­ost Office Club on Tuesday (October 11).

And he is hopeful of a big turnout for the 8pm event at the Bourges Boulevard venue, which has free admission.

Rathbonesa­id:“I pride myself on being as open and honest as I possibly can with the supporters.

“The club has not laid on a fans’ forum since last winter and this is the perfect time to put that right.

“There is certainly a lot to talk about with the 2016 season not panning out as wehad hoped. I’m expecting plenty of questions about what went wrong, andwhatour­plansare for next year.”

Rathbone will be joined on the top table by co-promoter Trevor Swales and team boss Carl Johnsonwhe­ndonations to the Peterborou­gh Panthers Speedway Supporters Club will be welcomed.

The forum is the second of twobigspee­dwayevents­atthe Post OfficeClub­inthecomin­g days. It also plays host to a big Panthers reunion tomorrow night (Friday).

More than 20 riders, who have represente­d the club during its 46-year history, haveagreed­toattendan­event organised bywell-knownsuppo­rter Kev ‘The Rev’ Austen.

Entry is by a minimum donation of £2 which will go to the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.
