Students awarded fully funded trip
Up to 30 students from The Voyager Academy have received full funding from Erasmus+ to travel to Spain or Germany to study migration on a European, national and local level. The project, coordinated by the academy, aims to help students obtain a balanced understanding of the reasons for increased immigration and mobility within Europe today. Students involved in the project will have to research the history behind human mobility in the countries they visit. This entails looking at the Syrian refugee crisis in Germany, North African immigrants in Spain and European immigrants in the UK. The students will engage in music and poetry in order to demonstrate their understanding of the challenges and successes that migrants face. The project will also build relationships between the academy and the schools in Spain and Germany which will encourage the sharing of cultures and experiences.
