Help for exporters as trade rules change
Companies face tough battle to trade in lucrative overseas market
Help is at hand for exporters based in Peterborough after the Egyptian government changed its trade rules. TheEgyptianmarketisworth millions of pounds to Cambridgeshire and is consistently in the top three overseas markets served by county exporters.
Last month, Cambridgeshire ChambersofCommerce processed documents relating to £8.1 million worthof exports to Egypt.
But, companies are facing difficulties after Egypt’s government introduced new trade and customs decrees that directly affect the export and trade documentation process for UK companies.
NowaseminarcalledGatewayto Egypt is to be hosted by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce’s International SectorwiththeEgyptian-British Chamber of Commerce.
It will be held at the Moller Centre, Storey’s Way, Cambridge, on October 25 from 3pm to 5pm.
Iman El Sherif, secretarygeneral of the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce, will outline the export regulations andhowtheyaffectUK importers.
Delegates will get an introduction to the current political climate and its impact on thebusinessenvironmentand an insight into new trade opportunities developing in the region.
