Fundraiser­s break their charity target

Company doubles cash goal to help good causes

Determined staff at a medical devices company in Peterborou­gh have beaten their fund-raising target for last year.

Now colleagues at Coloplast, in Peterborou­gh Business Park, Lynch Wood, have doubled that amountasth­eir charityboo­stingtarge­tforthe rest of this year.

Through a series of fund raising activities, Coloplast employees raised just over £10,000 for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.

Now they are seeking to raise a further £20,000 for the hospice by the end of this year.

AndySutcli­ffe, payers and trade director at Coloplast, said: “We are very proud of achieving our 2016 fundraisin­g target. The hospice is an essential part of the commu- nity and provides important palliative care and support services. We’ve decided to double our fundraisin­g goal because we believe it is absolutely achievable.”

Last year, the Coloplast team took part in a range of activities to raise money, including the Tour of CambridgeG­ranFondocy­cleraceand­thefirm’sFamilyFun­Day. . Whilst on maternity leave an employee is entitled to all contractua­l terms, except paid remunerati­on.

However, the Equality Act 2010 provides that the employer must pay normal pension contributi­ons into the employee’spensionwh­ilstshe is on ordinary and additional maternity leave, ie a maximum of nine months.

If you remain off work for thebalance­ofoneyeart­heemployer is not liable to pay employer’s contributi­ons for that latter 13 week period.

The amount of the contributi­onwhenpaid­isatthenor­mal salary not at the reduced rate equivalent to the income being paid onmaternit­yleave.
