Fundraisers break their charity target
Company doubles cash goal to help good causes
Determined staff at a medical devices company in Peterborough have beaten their fund-raising target for last year.
Now colleagues at Coloplast, in Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, have doubled that amountastheir charityboostingtargetforthe rest of this year.
Through a series of fund raising activities, Coloplast employees raised just over £10,000 for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Now they are seeking to raise a further £20,000 for the hospice by the end of this year.
AndySutcliffe, payers and trade director at Coloplast, said: “We are very proud of achieving our 2016 fundraising target. The hospice is an essential part of the commu- nity and provides important palliative care and support services. We’ve decided to double our fundraising goal because we believe it is absolutely achievable.”
Last year, the Coloplast team took part in a range of activities to raise money, including the Tour of CambridgeGranFondocycleraceandthefirm’sFamilyFunDay. . Whilst on maternity leave an employee is entitled to all contractual terms, except paid remuneration.
However, the Equality Act 2010 provides that the employer must pay normal pension contributions into the employee’spensionwhilstshe is on ordinary and additional maternity leave, ie a maximum of nine months.
If you remain off work for thebalanceofoneyeartheemployer is not liable to pay employer’s contributions for that latter 13 week period.
The amount of the contributionwhenpaidisatthenormal salary not at the reduced rate equivalent to the income being paid onmaternityleave.
