Man who cut victim’s throat with glass jailed for 7 years

A man who cut a man’s throat with a broken glass before stamping on a woman’s head has been jailed for seven years.

Sergejs Zorins, ( 36), of Daphne Court, Wisbech had been drinking at a house in Daphne Court with another man in his 30s when he smashed a glass in his face, stamped on his head and used the broken glass to cut his throat.

A woman in her 20s who was also at the property attempted to remove Zorins f ro m t he male but was punched in the face by Zorins who went on to stamp on her head repeatedly, leaving a footprint on her forehead.

The man needed life saving treatment on his throat. He was also treated for a broken jaw and nose. The female victim suffered serious facial injuries.

Zorins pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm partway through a trial. He will face deportatio­n upon his release.
