It’s the responsible thing to do

-

Are you a cat lover? Have you acted on impulse and taken on a cat that you’ve seen advertised on social media that’s badly in need of a new home, or from a friend who can’t keep it any longer? Your heart may have got the better of you and not being able to bear the thought of this poor cat being homeless you’re off to collect your new family addition.

You probably think well it doesn’t cost much to feed a cat, but I often wonder whether people would think twice before buying or taking on a new pet if they stopped to consider the animal’s average life expectancy and calculated the real cost of responsible pet ownership.

We see and hear all too often that once the new pet arrives, sadly so do the prob- lems,l an expense thath many can ill afford and haven’t taken out pet insurance.

So, if you’ve made a new addition to your family by getting a cat or kitten, you will need to make sure that you’re not going to land yourself with a whole litter of kittens.

Neutering is one of the most important things you should do for your cat’s long term health and welfare. There are many reasons why you should neuter your cat. Un-neutered cats wander and are more likely to be i involved in road accidents, , male cats can become more territorial when not neutered and this leads to fighting (potential risk of FIV disease) and spraying.

To help the local community, Cats Protection in Peter- boroughg has teamed up p with our friends at the RSPCA and Vets4Pets with a ONE DAY joint charity initiative of FREE neutering or spaying on Sunday 19 th March.

With the average cost of a male neuter being around the £404 mark and £505 up-p wards for a female, then this is an offer that you really won’t want to miss out on.

Our spaces are limited and priority will be given to those on low income and who would otherwise be unable to afford to neuter/spay /py their cats.

If you live in the PE1 -PE8 postcode area of Peterborough and your cat is aged three months and over then call us on 0345 371 2750 to book your space.
