Council leader’s city priorities
Cllr Holdich told the PT his priorities are to:
Produce a balanced budget “without having too much of an effect on services,” despite facing a £17 million deficit next year
Keep residents better informed online
Make sure devolution works in Peterborough, and that further devolution in the future addresses social issues in the city
Continue the work to introduce a Peterborough University
‘Up-skill’ the work force due to Brexit and recruit more people to Peterborough
Prepare for more schools becoming academies
Work with the city’s new street cleaning provider, when it is set up, and the city’s enforcement team to make Peterborough cleaner and safer
the life-expectancy gap in different parts of the city
Encourage new ‘Good Neighbours’ schemes which visit elderly people. This will help tackle dementia and loneliness.
