The Peterborough Evening Telegraph
Out of sickening tragedy comes stronger unity
The savage targeting of young children in the Manchester bombing has shocked the world as well as the nation. The terrible toll is one that Manchester and its people will never fully come to terms with. But the city and its people has demonstrated incredible resilience and compassion in the aftermath of the atrocity. Powerful words and actions and the gathering of thousands in Manchester city centre have ben moving affirmations of a city that is determined to carry on and rise above the hate the attack was designed to inspire. In Peterborough crowds also gathered. People from all walks of local life and all faiths took time to pay their respects and show a similar unity. The attack on children at a pop concert has sickened everyone but it has also strengthened Manchester’s resolve, Peterborough’s resolve and the nation’s resolve not to bow to such acts and to do everything in all our power to root out those who would carry out such vile acts.
