The first two series never failed to surprise armchair viewers, so grab a comfortable spot on Wednesday and pack your winter gear as we’re returning to the snowbound world of Fargo, where bizarre characters make those living in Twin Peaks appear normal. Martin Freeman had a great impact in the first series, and its makers have opted to go British again - in fact, we’re getting two for the price of one, because Ewan McGregor plays two roles.

The Scottish star takes centre stage as Ray and Emmit Stussy, brothers who don’t exactly see eye-to-eye or, amazingly, look that much alike in series 3 set in 2010.

As for the plot, Ray and his other half Nikki try to rob his brother Emmit, but end up embroiled in a double murder case. Sounds simple, but this being Fargo, there will be more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at.
