Pitch Battle (BBC1, Saturday, 7.25pm) has divided opinion since it launched in June, and some viewers may have found it difficult to get excited about yet another singing contest.

It didn’t help that it launched a week after The Voice Kids on ITV.

Luckily, it’s turned out to be a bit different from many of the other talent contests on our screens, and not just because it focused on choirs rather than aspiring solo stars. Presenter Mel Giedroyc, of

Bake Off fame, believes it has also stood out because the emphasis is on fun rather than fame . There is a £50,000 prize for the winning group this Saturday, and the six finalists will certainly have to pull together as they each collaborate with a star - including Will Young, Chaka Khan, Bebe Rexha and Seal - before three choirs are picked to make it through to the acapella round. After that, the judges will decide which two are the best, and then it’s left to a public vote to ultimately decide the winner of the £50,000 prize.
