Taxi firm increases number of new jobs
The boss of taxi firm Addison Lee has spoken of his plans to see staff numbers at the new Peterborough customer centre rise to 350.
Andy Boland, chief executive of Addison Lee, spoke of his hopes at the official opening of the firm’s £2 million customer service hub at Cygnet Park, Peterborough today.
The London based premium car operator has already recruited 120 people to work in the call centre based on one floor in Access House. It plans to take on another 130 people this summer, which will bring its total number of staff in Peterborough to 250.
But Mr Boland said it was hoped that more work would be brought from overseas to Peterborough and that could mean the creation of further 100 jobs.
He said: “I hope to have everybody - 250 people - in place by November time. We got a lot of recuitment to do but the quality of talent in the area has been great so we are quite confident we’ll get there.
”We have a number of activities that we conduct in London and other parts of the world, like the USA and Asia, and some of them lend themselves to consolidation here. No firm decision on that but the bias is to bring people here over time and more importantly train, upskill and broaden the range of activities that we do here.”
Mr Boland said that quality of the Peterborough workforce, the city’s connections to London, the quality of the offices were key reasons behind Addison Lee’s decision to move to Peterborough.
Mr Vara said: “It is fantastic to have company of this calibre move to Peterborough. The message has to go out loud and clear that Peterborough is open for business.”
