JACK ON THE ATTACK

- By Alan Swann alan.swann@jpress.co.uk

New striker Jack Marriott’s return to fitness could save Posh a fortune.

Posh have reportedly landed a cash windfall in excess of £1 million following the transfer of former forward Britt Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest to Middlesbrough.

Forest made an £8 million profit on the deal and Posh are entitled to a decent percentage of that sum, although club officials have declined to say how much.

A new striker to replace Tom Nichols would appear to be a Posh priority, but Marriott, Ricky Miller and Junior Morias have been in good goalscoring form in pre-season.

Marriott claimed his first goal for the club against Ipswich on Tuesday after recovering from a slight injury.”

“I was pleased to get off the mark,” Marriott stated. “I could have had a couple more goals, but hopefully they will start going in when the season starts properly. I’m getting on well on and off the pitch with the other strikers and we fancy having a good season.”
