Rotary Voices took to the stage again, this time performing to a packed audience in St Ives Parish Church. Our choir was set up in October 2016 by Rotarian Chris Shannon. Growing numbers of enthusiastic Rotarians and friends from several local Rotary clubs now take part.

Many are new to singing and performing but are growing in expertise, whilst having enormous amounts of fun.

Rotary Voices exemplifies the values of Rotary through the joys of singing, inter-club friendships, entertaining the local community and raising money for local charities.

The concert raised approx- imately £1,700; this will be donated to Magpas and the two churches that have supported the choir (St Ives and Brampton). The “Summer Songfest” concert opened with Rotary Voices singing “Let There be Peace on Earth”, our regular opening number, and concluded with a rousing ren- dition of “Let’s Get Together Again” when friends from Ouse Valley Chorus joined the choir on stage. Rotary Voices were supported by other amazing acts. Alice and Fran- cis Brien brought a new sense of fun to acoustic covers, giving a twist to their performance with surprise mash-ups!

Ouse Valley Chorus, a male close harmony group, entertained with a varied repertoire - songs to please everyone.

This polished chorus have competed at the National Bar- bershop Championships and won local music festivals on a number of occasions.

Nobody will ever forget Bang On! This energetic junk percussion duo used a giant homemade drum kit to create an outstanding visual and sound display creating ‘funky beats and rhythmic treats’.

Classically trained musicians, Kate Stephenson and Dave Smith, were semi-finalists in Britain’s Got Talent, had a sell out show at Edinburgh’s fringe and were individual drummers at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious. The audience loved them, joining in whenever they were given chance to do so. What an exciting and amazing show!

Peterborough Rotary Club held their Summer Quiz at Northborough Village Hall.

Ignoring the fact that both Mo Farrah and Usain Bolt were running that night, 13 teams battled it out for the coveted title of Summer Quiz Champions.

The greatest success of the evening was over £600 raised in aid of charities supported by Rotary. Uppingham Rotarian Anne Porter, a very courageous 86 year-old greatgrandmother, is raising funds for Dove Cottage Day Hospice in her home town.

She will make her first Sky Dive from 10,000ft. To support this amazing lady donate at https://mydonate.bt.com/ events/annesskydive/445240 Every contribution gratefully received.
