Life on the Holme Front: 1940s weekend takes over local village
EVENT The village of Holme enjoyed two days of 1940s-themed fun on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8. The family event transported visitors to the World War II era. The weekend attracted an estimated 15,000 visitors, and included military re-enactors, wartime dance, exhibitions, and the ‘hair raid’ shelter, which offered visitors the chance to try out a hairstyle from the era. Locals re-enacted wartime life, and there was a memorial parade on Sunday morning to pay respects to those lost in the war.
