Speakers and musicians launch Black History Month in city
EVENT Saturday, October 7 saw the city launch of Black History Month, celebrating black cultures and histories. Peterborough MP Fiona Onasanya and mayor John Fox were present, as well as local rock band Tickin Boxes and former X Factor star Valentine. Traders served African and Caribbean cuisine and tributes were paid to prominent liberation figures such as Martin Luther King. The Black History month committee organised the launch to celebrate unity and community spirit. They hold meetings and workshops each year between April and October.
