‘I’d be happy with Ronnie Biggs at Posh’
Reaction to my happiness at Steve Evans becoming the new Posh manager...
Steve Evans is the best manager Posh could ever wish for. If Ronnie Biggs was Posh manager and got us promoted would I care about the fact he robbed a mail train? Would I hell! Good guys finish last don’t they? I can’t wait until we start winning football matches on a regular basis.

Good, we have a manager with the balls to tell the top man where to get off and sort the lazy players out. Ian Catt
I’m hoping this will be an amazing ride with Evans as manager. Rob Searson
Well put Swanny. We need someone to motivate the lazy ones and he will do that. Gaz Johnson
When you present the full facts (re Evans) Mr Swann, and not just cherry pick the good points, others can make a more accurate opinion of your friend. Gary Day
Posh needed a change as the place had gone stale. The football wasn’t good, no consistency from an underperforming squad. Some players need a reality check and they will get it if they don’t perform.
Ricky Isaac
Evans has been the elephant in the room at the last two or three appointments so I guess the time is now right. Fasten your seat belts!
Jacqueline Chapman
Evans will demand performances and get them. His past should stay in the past.
Matthew Rowan Anyone else got a good feeling about Posh now?
I reckon Posh will be in a League One play-off place by tea-time on Saturday.
And freed from the restraints placed on them by the previous management I fully expect the players to provide a lot of fun at the ABAX Stadium between now and the end of the campaign. If Posh fail, and a horrible run of away games makes me think a top six finish is still unlikely, it won’t be because they have played timid, scared football. I’m sure I speak for many Posh fans by hoping for wins, but also by accepting disappointing results as long as the players leave nothing on the field. I suspect under new manager Steve Evans (above) that will be a given. Good luck to him and the squad.
AUSSIES ARE STILL OBNOXIOUS
The Australian cricketers are challenging the Team Sky cycling outfit for the ‘most obnoxious team’ in sport title. And that will always be the case while David Warner is around. The word ‘sledging’ doesn’t accurately convey the sinister, humourless and downright nasty comments that travel back and forth between international teams these days. And while umpires are too scared to act, as they were in the last Australian Test match in South Africa when Warner (above) started chirping, it’s an embarrassing problem that won’t go away.
WORST SACKING OF ALL-TIME
Has there ever been a worse decision than the one by Sheffield Wednesday to sack Carlos Carvalho as their manager?
