The boss of a national homes builder that has opened a new office in Peterborough has spoken of his plans for expansion.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire has agreed a five year lease on a two storey office building at Cygnet Park, in Hampton.

The office gives the company an excellent foothold in Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area, as it looks to meet the growing demand for more homes across the region. Adam Knight, operations director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said:

“We chose Peterborough because of its excellent transport links - it is easy to get in and out of the city, and it is very close to the A1.

Mr Knight said, although the company had agreed a five year lease on the building, the company was committed to staying in Peterborough for a lot longer.

“Quite simply I expect we will have outgrown the building in five years and will be looking to expand and relocate.

He said: “I am planning that we will have 30 staff by Christmas with that number rising to 50 to 60 in five years and by then we will bursting at the seams. By then we should be achieving 700 homes completions a year.” Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire is currently building on five sites-at Hampton, Thrapston, Northstowe and Godmanchester and aims to achieve 200 to 300 completions in a year.

Mr Knight said the demand for new homes was rising with the key to successful sales being to ensure the right mix of homes and prices for each area.
