RE: Drivers face £70 fine for parking on the pavement: Pavements are for pedestrians think of buggies and wheelchairs. As a driver you pay road tax, park on the road. Lynn Mould I’m fully for the idea, but there needs to be infrastructure in place to allow it. Residential parking areas will need to be built and run for those unable to park in their streets without causing an obstruction to other road users, and people will need to accept that there is no “right” of parking outside your property, unless you own a driveway or have an officially allocated parking space. Nick Penniall The pavements in my street are wider than the road. If this came in to force it would cause mayhem! Fair enough on streets where it’s causing a danger to pedestrians having to go around cars on the road, but a blanket rule for all roads would cause a lot of problems! Georgia Butterly
