Driver killed in collision with van
A man was killed in a collision between a car and a van on a rural road near Peterborough.
Simon Drew died when a blue Volkswagen Golf collided with a yellow Ford Transit van on the A141 at Guyhirn late on Saturday night.
Mr Drew (53) of Lilac Close, Wisbech, was driving the Golf at the time.
He died at the scene of the incident.
The driver of the van, also a man in his 50s, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Now police are appealing for information in an attempt to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.
Officers say Mr Drew was travelling west at about 11.25pm when it collided with the van about 300 metres east of the junction with the A605 at Ring’s End.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the road was closed between the A47 Guyhirn and A605 Goosetree until later on Sunday morning while investigations were carried out, and debris was cleared.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles in the moments leading up to it is asked to contact the Cambridgeshire road policing unit by calling 101 and quote incident 556 of 14 April, or report information online at www.cambs.police.uk/report.
