Cox is moving up the British rankings

-

Top junior tennis prospect Zachary Cox was in great form over the Easter school holiday.

The 14 year-old Bourne Grammar School pupil spent one of his weeks playing in a tournament in Welwyn Garden City at the Gosling Tennis Centre and he returned with three trophies.

He spent the entire week playing all day and every day in the Under 16 singles and doubles and the Under 18 singles and doubles.

And he won both singles events and the Under 18 doubles and was runnerup in the Under 16 doubles.

His Under 18 doubles triumph arrived on the same day as the singles final and arrived after he’d been on court for two hours winning the singles crown 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Zachary also found time to play in the Under 16 National Event at the Nottingham Tennis Centre and did well, considering his age, to reach the last 16.

His recent successes have seen him rise in the LTA British Under 16 rankings from 131st to 68th.

He is back in action playing for Cambridge in the Aegon Under 18 Premier League this Saturday.

Zachary has played tennis since he was four when he went along to his local Deeping Tennis Club with his older brother. At the age of six he was invited to train at the Hills Road High Performance tennis centre in Cambridge, where today he trains three times a week.
