Cuckoos don’t play, but get stronger

-

Yaxley now have the United Counties Premier Division title in their own hands after another dramatic week of action.

Four wins from their final four games will deliver a first UCL Premier Division title for Yaxley in the club’s history, barring an unlikely turnaround in goal difference.

The Cuckoos’ position at the head of affairs strengthened even though they had no fixtures last week.

Wisbech Town lost ground with a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of fellow challengers Newport Pagnell last Saturday, but Pagnell then dropped points at Rothwell on Tuesday, while Wisbech were winning at Leicester Nirvana.

Yaxley, who have a tough game at Eynesbury tonight (Thursday), now lead Wisbech, Holbeach and Pagnell by three points. They have played a game more than Wisbech and Pagnell, but have a superior goal difference.

Yaxley host lowly St Andrews at In2itive Park on Saturday when Wisbech travel to Kirby Muxloe, Holbeach go to Eynesbury and Pagnell entertain Leicester Nirvana.
