Have a ball at Broadway panto
This year’s Broadway Theatre pantomime - the timeless classic Cinderella will be packed with familiar faces... plus a new one in the title role.
The show will be produced and presented by The Broadway in association with Peterborough-based theatre company Kindred Drama, who launched a “search for Cinders” last month - with Kayleigh Barnes landing the job.
“We found Kayleigh, from St Neots, via our open casting call when she really put herself forward,” said Kindred’s Paul Collings, who is writing the script(with Peterborough panto legend Michael Cross), directing and starring as Dandini. “She is a year out of theatre school and very excited to be part of the show. “We also cast one of the wicked stepsisters from the open call, and we are really looking forward to having Natalie Castka onboard.”
The other wicked stepsister will be played by local actress Lizzie Watts, and Richard Parnwell will play Cinders’ love interest, Prince Charming.
“Cinderella is probably the most famous panto story of the lot,” said Paul, and this will be a fantastic, funny, musically great, traditional panto with something for all the family.
“There will be big chorus numbers and lots of talented local youngsters taking part - it is being put together by Peterborough for Peterborough.
“It is a great opportunity to give some of the people that are part of our team here in Peterborough (Kindred) the chance to get up on stage in a big production, like Lizzie and Richard, while Louise Gookey, will be playing the Fairy Godmother, and Mark Curtis will be returning as the Baron.
“And we are delighted to have Patric Kearns back (as the Wicked Stepmother). He has played the dame in Peterborough before and is very popular, people love and remember him - and the same goes for Adam Patman (Buttons).”
