County’s star women are up for the Walker Cup

The county women’s team seek success in the Walker Cup double rink event on Sunday when they face Cambridgeshire at Newmarket.

The match clashes with the Northants Bowling Federation finals at Whittlesey Manor which has resulted in the likes of Pat Reynolds and Sarah Newson having to concede semi-finals.

The Hunts county men’s team ended their inter-county Middleton Cup programme on a disappointing note with a 110-134 defeat at Northants.

It meant they finished bottom of their section with just one win in five matches, having gone into the campaign with some optimism.

Top Peterborough club Parkway are through to the area semi-finals of the Bowls England men’s Top Club event following a 3-2 victory against Burton Latimer, their next opponents being Northampton West End.

Sarah Newson has to concede a county semi-final to play in the Walker Cup.
