Pardoe mixes it with some top international riders

-

Peterborough Cycling Club members travelled out of the area to three separate time trials last weekend.

In-form Paul Pardoe travelled to Tring for a 10 mile race. However it was a slower day than had been hoped for on this usually fast course due to unfavourable wind conditions.

The event attracted a full field of 160 riders including international racers all hoping for fast times. The event was won by New Zealand National Champion Hamish Bond with a very fast 17:54. Pardoe was fourth in a very solid 19.40.

Meanwhile three of PCC’s more senior riders travelled to ride the Sherwood CC open 10 mile time trial near Grantham.

Kevin Hobbs came in 16th place in a field of 120 riders in 20.53. Long time club member Nick Hitchens posted 21.44 averaging 28 mph for the full distance and Dave Yareham, the club time trial secretary, finished in 23.57.

Martin Atkinson and Phil Jones headed to Sleaford for a 25-mile event. Jones clocked 1:03:21 to beat his previous best by three minutes and Atkinson posted a time of 59:56.
