England let down by Man City players
Reaction to my latest columns...
Gareth Southgate should quit now while his stock is high. Beating Sweden could be as good as it gets for him.
@AndySwann92
John Stones always has a mistake in him and so it proved in the semi-final.
@Mikeyjono04
I was at Hampden Park 13 months ago cursing England for equalising in the 34th minute of stoppage time against the mighty Scots. England have improved massively since then. Definitely on the right road. @TheRealCase
We came out for the secondhalf against Croatia with zero attacking intent. @ian_gow No complaints about England’s performance from me. Just two years too early for this group. @eladkram32
Undoubtedly an opportunity missed for England, but they were in the position to have that opportunity and that’s more than many expected.
@MarkPlummer81
It’s amazing that Gareth Southgate has England playing with an identity and has built a team that the country loves again. But, this tournament is also a massive missed opportunity. The draw won’t open up like that again.

Proud of the boys in this World Cup, but to lose in that manner is heart breaking. A lack of concentration killed us.

Let down by Man City players. @Mike0007 Things that I enjoyed about the 2018 World Cup...
1) The sheer panic on the faces of Scottish and Welsh fans as England stayed in the tournament for longer than expected. 2) Watching Belgium play 3) Neymar getting the comeuppance his antics deserved. 4) Watching Kylian Mbappe (above) in full flight.
5) Germany going out early
And the things I didn’t enjoy ... 1) The non-stop diving/faking. 2) Watching Panama’s thuggish pub team.
3) The delays caused by VAR reviews.
4) Watching Lionel Messi failing to carry the weight of a nation on his shoulders.
5) Chris Waddle crying live on the radio after an England win. My 2018 World Cup awards...
