School’s tribute to Peter
Along with his many business interests, Peter never forgot his roots, and was a big supporter of The King’s School, where he was educated.
A spokesman for the school said: “Peter Boizot had a long and distinguished association with The King’s (The Cathedral) School and his support for us has stretched across five generations. “Peter was a chorister at King’s during the war and head boy in 1948. He sang in candlelit services in Peterborough Cathedral and later remarked: “It was one of the great experiences of my life. Singing in a choir was a wonderful discipline; discipline with beauty.”
At King’s, Peter was a keen sportsman, playing rugby, hockey and cricket. He later served as Chairman of The Old Petriburgian Association and as the Association’s Vice-President for much of his later, adult life. The King’s School, and its recent headteachers, owe Peter Boizot a great debt for all of the support and practical help he has given as a generous benefactor. Peter financially supported the conversion of Madeley House into a centre that now accommodates our Junior and Music Departments; it is also, rather fittingly, now the place where the Cathedral choristers are educated. Peter helped the School’s development as a centre of excellence for science, as well as helping to improve our facilities for sport, both at both the Park Road and Garton End Road sites.
“We have lost a dear member of The King’s School Family.”
