Man fights for life after New Year collision
A pedestrian has been left with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car on the A1139 Orton Parkway in Peterborough on New Year’s Day.
The collision took place at approximately 4.30am at Orton Brimbles.
At the time of the incident the pedestrian was walking near to the road, but further details of the incident have so far not been released by Cambridgeshire police.
A spokeswoman for the force confirmed that the driver of the car involved in the collision stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
A police spokesman said on New Year’s Day morning (Tuesday) that he had been rushed to the hospital’s critical care unit.
A spokeswoman confirmed the following day that the man’s injuries were life-threatening and that he remained in hospital at the current time.
The occupants of the car which was involved in the col- lision were not injured, the spokeswoman stated.
Police closed the road for several hours on New Year’s Day morning between the Lynch Wood and Ortongate Shopping Centre roundabouts as it investigated the incident.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the pedestrian in the area prior to the collision.
