A PLACE TO CALL HOME: SERIES 6 Acorn, cert 15 DVD 2-disc set £19.99 Millions of fans will shed a tear as it’s time to say bye, bye, to the Bligh family as Australia’s biggest global TV hit comes to a conclusion. Amazingly the 50s’ saga was almost axed after just two series, but was rescued after a huge protest from viewers. The rest is history. Now loose ends in the Bligh family story of romances, feuds, secrets, and betrayal are tied up in 10 episodes. Is there a happy ending? Ahh, that would be telling! If you missed it, you can get this final series DVD, or buy the complete collection on a 12-disc boxset from Acorn DVD at £49.99. One thing’s for sure, A Place To Call Home must surely have made a star of willowy blonde Marta Dusseldorp ( pictured) who has dominated throughout as nurse Sarah Adams who returned to Oz from England after WW2 with emotional baggage and secrets. But on the ship she met wealthy businessman and politician George Bligh (Brett Climo) and a spark exploded. After many setbacks and shocks, and initial opposition from Bligh family matriarch Elizabeth (the superb character actress Noni Hazlehurst) their love story is completed with a baby and marriage. But the family as a whole still has love affairs, politics, and betrayal to survive before it concludes. In which Oz series did Marta co-star with Guy Pearce? Entries to Alex Gordon, Home competition by March 7.
