STREET STABBING: FOUR TEENS HELD
■ Police question four youths after man is seriously injured
Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in a Peterborough street.
The four teens - two boys aged 17 and two men aged 18 - were arrested and taken into police custody for questioning on Tuesday night after the violent incident which left a man needing hospital treatment after suffering ‘serious injuries’ in Farrow Avenue, Hampton Vale, Peterborough earlier that evening.
Police were called at 5.48pm to the street, after residents reported violence had broken out.
On arrival, the man in his 20s was found suffering from the stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, and police said he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Scenes of crime officers were seen on the street looking for evidence late into the night on Tuesday, with a large police cordon put in place to allow officers to carry out their investigations.
Earlier this week, figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed knife crime and violence - and crime overall - had dropped in Peterborough over the past year (see page 12).
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the stabbing - or anyone with information about the incident - to come forward.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said the stabbing was being treated as ‘an isolated incident,’ and was not linking it to any other attacks in the city.
The four arrested teenagers remained in police custody at the time of going to press yesterday evening (Wednesday).
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is urged to call Cambridgeshire police on 101, or visit www. cambs.police.uk, quoting incident number 385 of October 22.
