Lunn earns England place for Granollers in February

-

Josh Lunn has become the latest Helpston Harrier to be selected to run for England.

After a hugely successful 2019, Lunn will board a Spain-bound jet when he represents his country at the Granollers Half Marathon on February 2.

The former King’s School pupil clocked 64.25 when finishing 15th in the Great North Run in September and has also run well over the half marathon distance in both Reading and Paris this year.

“I’m extremely pleased to have been selected for England” said Lunn.

“I’ve improved a lot in the last year and it’s a great reward.

“I seemed to react really well to the higher mileage in my Frankfurt marathon build up.

“And I have been helped out by my training partners and fellow Helpston members Aaron Scott and Mike Channing.

“I’ve also got the standard for the World Half Marathon champs so I’ll be using the race as a good build up to the trials.”

Aaron Scott represented England in the Frankfurt Marathon earlier in the year.

And although he and Lunn are second claim members of Helpston at present they are doing a good job of putting the 16 month old club in the national spotlight.

First claim veterans John Herbert and Philippa Taylor ran for England in a home international cross country fixture last month, and are very much a part of the over 20’s elite of English distance running.

Herbert was rewarded by being named runner of the year at the inaugural Helpston awards night on Saturday.
