Ambler’s hat-trick means City can keep mixing it with the best

Ross Ambler’s hat-trick saw City of Peterborou­gh through to the third round of the National Mixed Cup.

City were losing semi-finallists in this competitio­n two seasons ago and are keen for another good run.

They found it tough at Norwich Dragons last weekend though with Ambler’s National League first-team quality proving the difference.

It was end of the road for City of Peterborou­gh Ladies in the over 45s National Cup last weekend at Bretton Gate.

They pushed a strong Kettering side hard before accepting a 3-1 defeat at Bretton Gate. Lynn Sullivan scored the City goal from a short corner.

City of Peterborou­gh Ladies first team were without an East Premier Division fixture. They are fourth ahead of a trip to seventh-placed Dereham on Saturday.

City Ladies thirds were 7-0 winners over Bourne Deeping seconds in Division Three as Clare Bowtell bagged a hattrick.

City of Peterborou­gh men resume their battle against relegation from National League Division One North on February 1 when hosting Loughborou­gh Students.

Prolific marksman Phil Martin bagged a hat-trick in City sixths in a 9-0 win over Bourne Deeping thirds in Division Six, while teenager Archie Senior scored twice. Martin now has 27 goals for the season.
