Star-studded Showground line-up takes shape
The cast for Peterborough Panthers’ season opener is taking shape.
All seven of the city club’s riders – one of whom is still to be confirmed - will take part in the 50th anniversary individual meeting when the curtain goes up on the 2020 campaign at the East of England Arena on Sunday, March 15.
And a number of past Panthers favourites have also accepted invitations to take to the Alwalton track for the special occasion.
Star of 2019, Charles Wright, who powered to British title glory while a Peterborough racer, is included along with two men who represented the club in their SGB Championship days – Simon Lambert and Emil Grondal.
Another former British champion and ex-Panthers rider, Danny King, has been added to the line-up along with Australian ace Ty Proctor, who had a spell with the city club last season.
A total of 16 riders will take part in a meeting staged over 20 qualifying heats ahead of a grand final.
The club will hold their press & practice event the previous day – March 14 – at Alwalton.
The track will be open tto pres and sponsors only from noon to 4pm, but the chance to meet and greet the riders will be available at the supporters club party later that day at the Peterborough Post Office Sports and Social Club on Bourges Boulevard priced £7 for members and £8 for non-members.
