Chance of four titles for in-form Dolby and Ford
Both Martyn Dolby and Chris Ford will be bidding for four titles at the Northants Bowling Federation men’ s and women’ s indoor county finals at the Peterborough & District club on Sunday, with a full day of games starting at 10am.
Dolby defends both the triples and veterans singles, and has also qualified for the singles and mixed triples, while Ford bids for success in the singles, pairs, triples and mixed triples.
Dolby’s opponent in the singles decider will be Adam Warrington, who he will be playing alongside in both the triples and mixed triples.
Along with Warrington, John Earl also plays in three finals – mixed pairs, triples and pairs.
The winners will represent the county in the national finals at Newark at the end of next month.
Meanwhile, under 25 international Stephen Harris will be dashing back from Wales to play in two finals, having been one of two travelling reserves for the England senior international team, which also included Nicky Brett and Spalding pair Matt Whyers and Graham Smith.
Brett, a former runner-up, has been nominated in the Sportsman of the Year category in the Petreborough Telegraph Sports Awards, for his form in 2019.
In total there are eight county finals taking place on Sunday with batches of matches scheduled to start at 10am, noon, 2pm and finally 4pm.
Peterborough & District • completed a 10-0 points double over Whittlesey in the Cambs Senior League with a 106-35 home victory.
