The show went on for some last weekend, but it’s all over for now
Football - PT Sports Awards finalist Finley Hardy has scored 36 goals in 16 appearances
Peterborough football has finally been defeated by the coronavirus.
Those local leagues that saw some action last weekend will now follow the latest advice from the UK Government to avoid social interaction.
That includes Peterborough League, the Sunday Morning League, the Youth League, the Junior Alliance League and the Cambs Womens and Girls Leagues.
There must be now some doubt as to when (if at all) the Peterborough Youth League and Peterborough & District Junior Alliance League will finish this season.
Many clubs took the option to postpone all matches because of the risk posed by the coronavirus last weekend, but for many teams the show went on.
Under 12 League
Division Three title challengers Hampton Robins will play Division Four leaders Stanground Sports in the final of the Hereward Cup.
Max Krzanicki scored twice and Harry Wallman and Dylan Mukiri Mungai also netted as Hampton beat Stanground Sports 4-0 in their semi-final, while Spalding romped to an 8-0 win at
Deeping Utd Red.
In Under 12 Division Two, Feeder moved up to third last weekend after beating Orton Rangers 4-0 with goals from Titas Ananikovas, Thomas Hurst, Jackson Rhodes and Harrison Stimson.
Yaxley are 10 points clear at the top, but second-placed Holbeach Black have five matches in hand.
Finley Hardy’s hat-trick enabled Glinton & Northborough Amber to stretch their lead at the top of Division Five with a 3-0 win over bottom club Boston.
Hardy is a Junior Footballer of the Year finalist in the Peterborough Telegraph Sports Awards and has now scored 36 goals in just a6 appearances this season.
Under 13 League
All Division One games were postponed last weekend, leaving Deeping Rangers Blue with a slender one-point lead over
Stamford Yellow who have two games in hand.
In Division Two, unbeaten Nene Valley dropped points as they were held 1-1 at Moulton Chapel. Finley Shevlane scored for the city side who are third.
In Division Three, Werrington Athletic won for just the second time this season when goals from Max Allen, Eva Fowler and Oliwier Uczniak secured a 3-1 win at Colsterworth.
Charlie Shingles scored all four goals as third-placed Glinton & Northborough Navy drew 4-4 with Stamford Yellow in Division Four.
Second-placed Blackstones beat Bourne Claret 6-1 to move within five points of leaders Wittering.
Under 14 League
Every single Under 14 League game was called off last weekend as were both League Cup semi-finals.
In the only competitive match at this level, Hungate Rovers beat Glinton & Northborough Navy 7-1 in a Hereward Cup semi-final.
Hungate’s scorers were Joshua Gidney (2), Joe Harris (2), Sonny Sandberg (2) and Harley Murkin with Jack Brearley replying for Glinton & Northborough.
Hungate await the winners of the delayed semi-final between Sawtry and Peterborough Northern Star.
