You are all heroes
Today, we join forces to celebrate the heroes who are making such a difference to our communities
Postie Emily Taylor has been delivering smiles and cheers alongside the post on her rounds in Stanground.
One for having some fun at work, Emily, aged 39, had previously dressed up at Christmas and on Valentine’s Day.
Starting out as a ‘bit of a joke’, Emily wanted to bring some smiles and laughter to those around her.
Wearing her Star Wars mask in the office her col- leagues loved it, she knew that was the start of her dressing up again.
She said: “Everyone was saying ‘not all superheroes wear capes’ about key workers, so that was it.
“I went and got hold of a mask and a superhero cape and it’s just spawned from there.
“It’s been great raising spirits. It’s not about trivialising the current situation it’s about giving the people something to smile about!”
Having had amazing reactions from her workplace and members of the public on her round, Emily has dressed up as a rainbow to support the NHS, a dinosaur and Wonderwoman.
A favourite of the public has been playing “Where’s Wally?” as Emily dressed up as Wally and asked people to spot her on her round. Families waved from windows and took her picture so they could post to Facebook that they had found Wally!
Community is something which is so important to Emily, as she has been shopping for some residents who are isolated and vulnerable.
She said: “We are all trying to do our bit for the communities we deliver in.
“We are all supporting each other and doing what we can to keep things going.”
Stanground residents will have something to look forward to over Easter as Emily says she has planned some special costumes!
‘It’s not about trivialising the current situation it’s about giving people something to smile about.’
