This week Youth Inspired launched free online Zoom activities for young people living in Peterborou­gh throughout May.

These sessions are suitable for young people aged 12 and above.

Youth Inspired is a Lottery funded project founded by PCVS and supported by the DCMS (Department of Culture, Media & Sport).

It sets up, supports, delivers and creates youth activities across Peterborou­gh.

Community developmen­t worker Helen Wainwright said: “The first few weeks of lockdown were spent engaging with young people and organisati­ons to understand how they were coping and what their needs might be. We have now started running a weekly online youth club via Zoom and are continuing to hold our Young Commission­ing Panel weekly too.”

The timetable of free sessions that will run over the month of May includes:

Poetry with renowned Peterborou­gh spoken word artist Charley Genever: A chance to gain confidence and inspiratio­n to be creative with words. Fun, playful sessions with a different theme each week

Collage with local art group Paisley Art: Weekly sessions creating collages from everyday items.

Phone Photograph­y with city photograph­er Danny: An exciting and unique project with weekly tips to get the best from your phone camera.

StreetArtw­ithPeterbo­rough legend KORP: Weekly ‘How to’ step by step guide to doodling using Sharpie Markers.

Body Positivity with local illustrato­r Ellie Sandall: Exploring positive and negative body image thoughts, helping you to love the body you’re in.

Wellbeing with Kirsty from YPCS: A look at improving your mental health and general wellbeing whilst in lockdown, how to cope with change and improve your selfesteem.
