Hans back on his bike after his longest lay-off
Peterborough Panthers favourite Hans Andersen has been back on a bike for the first time in six months.
Andersen admits it was a ‘great feeling’ to get some laps in at his home Danish track, the Vojens Speedway Centre.
The Danish Government drew up a list of regulations to enable practice to take place and Andersen took advantage.
Andersen said: “It was a great feeling as this has been the longest period in my professional speedway career without being on a bike - over six months.
“The opportunity arose after the government here in Denmark continued to slowly relax our lockdown restrictions. I was able to go to my 2020 Danish team track at Vojens and have a skid, but it didn’t happen without some pretty tough rules that were put in place.
“Only one rider and one mechanic were allowed to attend, riders were separated in the pits area by the social distancing measures in place and we had to change into our race suits in our vehicles.
“Riders were not allowed to use the showers afterwards. Despite this it was very pleasing to be able to get sideways after such a lengthy lay off.”
