Hi-tech firm creates 55 jobs

-

More than 50 jobs have been created by a Peterborough telecommunications infrastructure provider. Recruitment has started at the Opals Group, based in Shrewsbury Avenue, as it seeks to meet rising demand for more and better communications networks for homes and businesses. The company, which has 140 staff, is also preparing to move into a new £2 million 41,660 square metre warehouse in

Morley Way, Woodston, in July. Sam Hodge, managing director, said: “These new roles have been created from the growing demand for our services from clients wanting to build and expand their full fibre communications networks - as the population relies upon fibre connectivity more and more to service homes, businesses and an ever-growing connected work lifestyle.” Mr Hodge, who won the Entrepreneur

of the Year title at the Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards two years ago with the company winning the Medium Business of the Year award the following year, said: “It has been a very worrying period for all businesses during this uncertain time.

“We have had to overcome our own obstacles to ensure our people are kept safe whilst they carry out their vital work providing services to our clients.

“The work Opals undertakes to install, upgrade and maintain critical communications networks is classified as ‘essential work’ by the Government and during this period the safety of our people is and always will be our first priority. He added: “I look forward to welcoming our team back into our brand-new facilities after working from home and continuing to provide local people with the opportunity to be part of our growing team.”
