Fabric firm helps to keep NHS in scrubs
Supplier keeps sewers stocked with the right materials
A fabric supplier forced to close during the lockdown is now busier than ever helping to make scrubs for NHS workers.
Plush Addict, of Lincoln Road, Peterborough, is creating and supplying materials for the sewing community to make vital clothing for NHS and other health care workers who come into contact with the public.
The company was created eight years ago by husband and wife team Jon and Kellie
Rose selling fabric and haberdashery.
The Covid-19 lockdown meant the store had to be closed to the public and 11 of the 15 staff were furloughed while the business traded online only.
Now Plush Addict is putting together and supplying scrub packs to the Cambridgeshire Scrub Hub and other local groups.
The kits include suitable fabrics for scrubs cut into appropriate lengths, the threads and drawcords.
Fabrics and accessories notions are also provided for creating headbands and laundry bags.
Jon and Kellie said: ‘When we heard about the local hubs we wanted to get involved and do our bit to help.
“We have been making up the packs, donating and offering materials at cost to several local groups to support our key workers during these unprecedented times.
“We have another 500 metres coming in for the Cambridgeshire Scrub Hub to make scrubs for Magpas Air Ambulance, a GP Surgery in March and individuals at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
“We also offer discounted polycotton fabrics to the public so more people can have access and get involved.”
