Boxing legend Amir Khan helps deliver knock-out blow to hunger
Champion boxer visits Peterborough with his charitable foundation to deliver food to homeless residents in the city
Former boxing world champion Amir Khan was in Peterborough to deliver a knock out blow to hunger in the city. Amir was at the Topyard Boxing Club in Cromwell Road, where he helped hand out food to homeless residents.
The event was organised by the Amir Khan Foundation, and worked alongside charities including the Children of Adam.
The Amir Khan Foundation was set up in 2014, and as well as helping projects to help homeless and needy people across Britain, the foundation has also helped people across the globe.
Amir said that during the pandemic the foundation had helped thousands of people.
He said: “We have been fortunate to engage some amazing manufacturers, suppliers, and volunteer teams who have helped us support over 25,000 families across Pakistan, and over 2,000 individuals and families since the foundation launched its food poverty programme here in the UK.
“We were especially grateful for the support we have received from Poundland and Best Western Hotels.
“However, the more people we have helped, the more it has opened our eyes to the longlasting impact this will continue to have, particularly low-income families, the elderly, and the homeless.”
The foundation is raising funds online to help as many people as possible.
