opular bistro and tearooms The Chalkboard on The Embankment in Peterborou­gh is to start serving takeawaysn­extweek.

In line with Covid-19 announceme­nts from the Government, Andy Jones and Hannah Spence - who launched the business last summer - closed the venue in March.

But with recent relaxation­s in rules surroundin­g the public leaving their homes and enjoying the outdoors, the team are confident they have sufficient measures in place to safely reopen.

Ptakeaways available by pre-ordering, to enjoy by the river or at home, as well as drinks and ice creams available to walk-by customers. Andy said: “To shut The Chalkboard and remain closed for nearly 3 months was a decision we did not take lightly but our main priority was to keep our customers and staff safe, we now feel confident that we can do this.

“Therefore, we will be reopening The Chalkboard on Monday, 1st June, every day from 12pm-5pm. Please rest assured we have a vigilant risk assessment in place and a recent 5 star food hygiene rating.

“We have worked hard on the menu that we will be available and we hope you like it.

“We will be offering a take away service, collection only. Pre-order at least 24 hours in advance online through our website from our famous ‘Pick your own Afternoon Tea’ and ‘Children’s Afternoon Tea’ perfect for all your celebratio­ns or lockdown treat. Or maybe you fancy a Luxury British or Vegetarian Chalkboard

Picnic for 2 to enjoy on the Embankment or to have in the garden at home, these are perfect to pre order for Father’s Day!

“You simply pick your day and time of collection then pay online through our new booking system. We ask people to arrive on time and to stick to the social distancing measures that are in place at the restaurant. There will be clear signs directing you to where to collect your food.

“We will also have a small ‘walk by’ menu if you are enjoying the Embankment this will include coffees, cold drinks and ice creams. We hope to extend this menu in the coming weeks.”
