Coach wishes there was more than one Glenn Billing!
Ice hockey - The latest signing news from Planet Ice
Peterborough Phantoms coach Slava Koulikov rates forward Glenn Billing so highly he’d like to clone him!
Koulikov is delighted to have tied down Billing on a twoyear Planet Ice contract.
Billing racked up 50 points (21 goals, 29 assists) in a shortened 2019-20 National League season.
Koulikov said: “Glenn is a dream of a player to coach. Everything he does has to be 100 per cent. Anything less in terms of commitment, fitness, competitiveness is not good enough for him.
“Over the last three seasons Glenn has developed into a top player in the league and plays a very big role on our team. He is a very intelligent centre, who plays well at both ends of the ice and provides great links between all players.
“Glenn’s ability to read and anticipate situations gives him an edge and I am heavily reliant on him in all important situations.
“Glenn leads by example and reminds me of (former Phantom) Luke Ferrara.
“I said when I worked with Luke I would love to clone him so if I could I would now clone Glenn as well! Another important thing is that he wants to continue to improve and develop his game.”
Billing has also played for Romford, Swindon and MK. He has also won GB junior caps.
Billing said: “I’m really excited to be back with the Phantoms.
“I’d like to thank the owners, Jo and Dave Lane, and Slava for giving me the opportunity to return.
“With the season coming to an abrupt halt last year, I feel like we have some unfinished business.
“There’s a real family feel around the club and we have a great group in the locker room, which made it an easy decision to stay.
“I’m looking forward to reuniting with the boys and hopefully we can build on the positives from last year and bring home some silverware.
“I can’t wait to get back out there in front of our great fans.”
