Archway set for adventures with Tin-Tin

-

City-based Archway Table Tennis Club have signed England Ladies champion Tin-Tin Ho.

The 21 year-0ld from London is the current England number one having been crowned national champion on four occasions.

Tin-Tin enjoyed a stellar junior career winning numerous titles at every age group and is currently head and shoulders above the rest of the lady players in the country.

Tin-Ti n is currently ranked world number 93. She has just taken a year away from her medical studies - she’s studying for a degree at Nottingham University - to train, live and work in Linz, Austria.

Tin-Tin will play as number one for the Archway II team in the British League when the competition resumes following lockdown.

Archway coach Gareth Herbert said: “Archway has put down a marker demonstrating how serious it is in its quest to become one of the leading clubs in the UK.

“Tin-Tin is an outstanding player who has what it takes to become world class. She has an unbelievably positive mindset and complementary life skills to succeed. We look forward to helping her on her journey”.

Archway have also signed 13 year-old Welsh prodigy Anna Hursey. She’s thought to be the youngest player to ever represent Wales at senior level in any sport when she represented her country in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Herbert added: “We have got to know Anna well and are very impressed with her attitude to training and complete commitment of her and her family to become an elite player on the world stage.”

Ever keen to encourage female participation and to augment the existing first-class coaching team, the club has also enlisted the services of top female Chinese coach Hong Hong Peebles.

Hong has an impressive track record of developing players to national junior champion standard and in her previous role won both the U16 boys and girls national school team championships. Herbert said: “Hong will be an excellent asset as the club looks to expand its activities, nurturing local talent both at the club and in outreach sessions in primary schools.”

Jasmin Wong (21), the under 21 English bronze medallist, has also moved to Archway. She is currently number 10 in England.
