Tough times for staff at publisher
Magazine giant finalises review of operations
Staff at a magazine publisher in Peterborough are facing an uncertain time after a shakeup of some of its leading titles.
Bauer Media, which has offices at Lynch Wood, is to make changes to 10 of its publications, including a number published out of Peterborough.
The changes have been announced after what the company says was a comprehensive review of its operations.
It is hoped any employees affected by the changes will, where possible, be redeployed within the business.
A spokeswoman added: “We are unable to discuss any further information around redundancies at this time.”
The review has concluded one brand will move to a digital and event based format, one will be merged, three titles will close after publication of their final issue and five titles could be sold.
Chris Duncan, chief executive of UK Publishing, said: “In order to protect the longterm health of our publishing business we have had to make tough decisions about the future of some much-loved titles.
“While some magazines sadly will close, we remain hopeful that a number will continue to publish under new ownership.
We remain fully committed and positive about the strength of our remaining portfolio.”
Seven of the 10 titles are published from Peterborough.
They include Practical Photography, which is to close, Mother & Baby will move to a digital and event based format, while Golf World and Golf Today will merge.
