Peterborough Sports have added some much-needed strength in depth to their squad for the 2020-21 Southern League Central Premier Division season.

Former Posh youth team midfielder Dan Jarvis and ex-Notts County centre-back Brad McGowan are new arrivals at the Bee Arena, whle exciting young winger Jordan Macleod is back at Sports after sampling life at Rushden & Diamonds, Wisbech and Deeping Rangers.

Sports boss Jimmy Dean is delighted with his summer captures who will help the club’s ambition to improve further next season.

When the 2019-20 campaign ended Sports were top of the table in their first season at step three level, although title rivals Royston and Tamworth had games in hand.

“Dan Jarvis is a perfect signing for us,” Dean stated. “He’s young, athletic and local with a great work ethic.

“Brad McGowan has a great pedigree, while Jordan Macleod will be as good as he wants to be.

“They are good additions to a strong squad and we will need more depth this season as there could be an awful lot of midweek matches because of the late start.

“We can’t wait to get going again, but we are expecting a tougher season if anything.

“Last season the bigger clubs in our league like Nuneaton and Stourbridge didn’t get things right.

“They will be better this season, while Bromsgrove Sporting always have lots of money to spend.

“We have great belief in ourselves though.

“The players believe they are good enough to challenge again and the management believe in themselves.

“I am evolving as a manager and I expect to be able to help the players that bit more this season.

“We deserved to finish where we finished last season and we are confident of another good showing.

“Our form against the top sides last season was outstanding and it will need to be again.”
