Mum Jessica Cox has raised more than £2,000 after having her long hair shaved off to support two charities.

Braving the shave, mum of two Jessica (27), from Eye, has chopped off her luscious shoulder-length locks to raise money for Macmillan nurses as thanks for their help in caring for herterminally ill grandma.

Jessica’s grandma, Sheila Cox (75) has been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour which came as a big shock to the family.

Wanting to make her grandma proud, Jessica had set her sights on raising a £250 target but was amazed as people rallied behind the cause helping her to raise £2,390.

“She (Sheila) was very emotional on the day,” said Jessica. “But she’s very proud and did get a little teary.

“It was very unexpected, I’ve had people donate who I haven’t seen in years so that has been really nice.

“Grandma has had a good feel of it now it’s growing back and she quite likes it now.”

Having not had short hair since primary school, Jessica is now embracing her new look and has been happy to go out without a hat or scarf on.

Not wanting to waste her hair, Jessica also donated 16 inches of her locks to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for youngsters undergoing cancer treatment.
