Insurance company gives cash boost to help vital work of national charity

-

A digital distributor of insurance in Peterborough has given a cash boost to a national charity.

The BGL Group, based in Bakewell Road, Orton Southgate, is supporting the Charlie Gard Foundation as part of its £1.5 million Empower, Pledge, Donate campaign to help charities impacted by coronavirus.

The Foundation was set up by parents Connie and Chris who tragically lost their son Charlie in 2017, a week before his first birthday. It supports those affected by mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, suffered by Charlie, and invests in research into this group of diseases. Stephanie Roundsmith, the Foundation’s head of communications and fundraising, said: “Like many charities, coronavirus has affected our fundraising, but because the children we support have life-limiting conditions, we still need to get things done for them quickly. That’s why grants like this from BGL are most welcome.”
